School Programs

Gallery+Studio Program

Supported by Art on the River

Each year, Bend Art Center invites Central Oregon schools to participate in our Gallery+Studio Programs. These programs are designed around special exhibits of particular educational value, and explore history, math, or science through art. Students get a close-up look at the exhibit, learn about the art and its connections to other subjects, and then apply their new knowledge in the A6 Print Studio with hands-on printmaking or book arts activities.

Financial assistance is available for Title 1 and rural schools. For more information, email Dawn Boone,  Education Director or call 541.318.6275.

Artist-in-Schools Program

Supported by Clabough Foundation

This new program enables Bend Art Center to deliver quality arts education directly to schools. These programs are mobile versions of our Gallery+Studio programs. Our educators bring “museum boxes” with reproductions of artwork from a special exhibit, along with art supplies to do a connected creative activity. These programs explore history, math, language arts or science through art.

Financial assistance is available for Title 1 and rural schools. For more information, email Dawn Boone,  Education Director or call 541.318.6275.

WHAT TEACHERS SAY

“The speakers are very knowledgeable about the exhibits, but more importantly, are able to engage children. The artwork the children get to do is phenomenal.  The kids talked about the field trip all year long, and included it in their favorite things of the whole school year.  I highly recommend a visit to A6!”
