Fresh work from A6 Artist Member Paula Bullwinkel will be on display March 6-29, 2015 in the A6 Gallery.
“These monotypes are an experimentation with color. I wanted to make something that has a feeling of joy and freedom. I picked color combinations that seemed happy and celebratory. The black works as an anchor for the color. Some of these prints are nature based, with stylized leaves, bones, or flowers—but I’ve chosen surreal colors. Some are inspired by my past paintings and collages.
It is important to me to go back and use ideas from my past art in new ways. I want to create a sense of cohesiveness and connection with my past and present art.
I am also currently working on detailed black and white drawings, so these monotypes offer balance from that work.”
