Early life in Eastern Washington and later, Central Oregon — both with sparse landscapes and panoramic views — influence Laughery’s work as a printmaker.

Her palette and the use of texture are inspired by nature and natural phenomena. Renditions of place, some through abstraction and others more representational, explore the use of stratification. The results are suggestive of place and mood — her response to the natural world.

Laughery’s images serve as reflections — emotion evoked by a place and memory — often the same places explored many times. Places that seem as much within her as without. Places to which she is connected. A small part of something naturally occurring.
